œPLACE WHERE HEIKE CAME TO END OSHINOHARA, YASU CISTY, SHIGA PREFECTURE

Yasu is a place where Heike came to end. In the end of Heian period, the Traira clan was defeated at Dannoura War and the head of the clan, Taira no Munemori and his son, Kiyomune were killed with a swaord at Omishinohara on their way back to Kyoto from Kamakura.

Now a grave marker of the father and the son is built which is said that their corpses were burried. The tombstone and the stoen statue carved with "The place where Sir Taira no Munenori came to end" are floating lonely atmosphere by erosion of the wind and snow for the long time.

And the pond at the opposite side of the grave is called Munemori head washing pond which is said that they washed Munemori & Kiyomune's heads. As frogs stopped croaking feeling pity, they call it "Pond where frogs do not croak".
